Summer's here and now is the time to take full advantage of the season's glorious bounty: ripe, juicy tomatoes, fresh sweet corn, herbs from the garden, and delicious strawberries and peaches. Here is a great menu for a summer cocktail party that makes use of all of these ingredients. It includes a trio of salsas to serve with tortilla chips, a tangy goat cheese spread to top grilled peasant bread, and beautiful herb-infused olives. I've also included a recipe for Summer Sangria, a delicious concoction of red wine and brandy to which summer-fresh fruit has been added. An important element of this menu is that every recipe can (and should) be made well ahead of time to allow all of the flavors to mellow. That leaves the cook plenty of time to relax and enjoy his or her own party - and isn't that what summer is really all about? |
