In the summer of 1999, Jeff Senior turned his attention to Newton’s
Caffe Lampara. He decided to close Caffe Lampara, renovate it and
turn it into the area’s third SKIPJACK’S. The nationally
recognized Chicago design firm of AuMiller Youngquist completed
its $300,000 renovation in September of 1999. The new dining room
evokes the feel of a 1930’s elegant cruise ship with arches
and curvy spaces reminiscent of waves. A striking parquet floor
is a perfect foil for beautifully upholstered chairs and banquettes.
Two glassed-in private dining areas are available, one an intimate
space for twelve and a larger room for 45. The newest addition to
the SKIPJACK’S family is its most sophisticated member. The
menu offered in Newton mirrors that of Boston and Brookline, offering
the largest variety of fresh fish in the area.
