Jennifer Lorson Ramos, Texas Correspondent
Jennifer
Lorson Ramos is a native New Yorker who recently relocated to
Texas, and spends her spare time discovering all the Austin food
scene has to offer.
Jennifer’s culinary career has spanned twenty-five years.
She got her start at the age of 11, when her mother became a catering
chef at Estherwood Mansion in Dobbs Ferry, New York. She spent
10 years’ worth of weekends falling in love with food.
After college and several rewarding years in the human services
field, she returned to her true calling. She graduated from the
Culinary Institute of America in 2000 with a degree in culinary
arts. However, she happened into a pastry job before graduation,
and never looked back.
She became Pastry Chef of Zinc Restaurant in New Haven, Connecticut
in 2003.
She has worked in the pastry shops of several AAA Four-Diamond
hotels, including the Sonnenalp Resort of Vail; Mohegan Sun Resort
and Casino in Connecticut; Otesaga Hotel in Cooperstown, New York;
and Barton Creek Resort and Four Seasons Hotel in Austin. She
also owned her own wedding and specialty cake business in Albany,
New York.
She lives outside of Austin with her husband, daughter and a
Jack Russell terrier named Biscuit.
