Product Note: If your fat intake is restricted, please make certain to check the product label of any sorbet you eat. Most fruit sorbets have little or no fat, but some non-fruit flavors, like chocolate, can have a substantial fat content, depending upon the manufacturer.

Chocolate Recommendation of the Month: Looking for a cold treat that's something special? Ciao Bella Gelato Company, Inc. knows what you like. This is a small firm, based in Irvington, NJ, and they make a hazelnut gelato so good it can fool me into believing I'm back in Rome. This company is passionate about their products, and you can taste the quality in every spoonful. I have not tried their frozen yogurt, but the intensely-flavored sorbets are great (try the coconut or raspberry or the incredibly rich and bittersweet chocolate). And if you ever get tired of the smooth, creamy, flavorful hazelnut gelato, try one of their other flavors, like chocolate, chocolate hazelnut, or malted milk ball.

While there are two Ciao Bella cafes in New York City and one in California, it can otherwise be hard to find, so your best course of action may be to contact the company. If there's no source near you, they will ship you their products. If that seems extreme, remember that you have other foods you enjoy shipped to you; why not this? It's just a matter of making sure someone will be around to receive it. And I promise you, these desserts are worth it.
