Hi! My name is Stephanie Zonis, and welcome to the May, 2003 edition
of “For Chocolate Lovers Only”. Each month, you’ll
find recipes, tips, and recommendations on great chocolate specialties.
As usual, this May edition is devoted to mothers everywhere. I gaze
in wonder upon my friends raising their own children and think back
to what my own Mom must have gone through as a stay-at-home parent
and still don’t know how any of them get through motherhood
with their sanity (relatively) intact. Mothers everywhere, I salute
you! Here are some often-requested recipes I think you might enjoy…
Chocolate Recommendation of the Month: Does the mention of
anything chocolate cause your heartbeat to accelerate? Are you a
secret internet browser for chocolate in all forms? If so, this
month’s recommendation, Chocolocate, is for you. I’ve
known about this site for some years now, and whoever is behind
it constantly adds to their many lists. You can browse the site
by location (US state or other country), by keyword, by what’s
newest, or by type (retailer, gift basket supplier, books, etc.).
You’ll find information on chocolate-making supplies, chocolate
festivals, personal ratings of chocolate bars, a rock band named
“Land of Chocolate”, and of course countless retailers
of chocolate products.
For me, part of the fun of Chocolocate is just looking through
everything they have. If I’m going to be traveling somewhere,
I can select a region and see if there will be any chocolate places
nearby that I haven’t tried yet. Some of the retailers will
be familiar to you if you’ve been reading this column for
any length of time, too. Recently, the site has begun to update
some of its links, a procedure long overdue, but some links from
as long ago as 1999 still work perfectly (I tried a few, so I know).
For kicking your chocolate imagination into high gear, it’s
tough to beat Chocolocate. Check ‘em out at www.chocolocate.com.
