The Palmer Cafi, a student-run campus restaurant, provides training in the art and business of food service. Tante Maries Cooking School in San Francisco was founded as a full-time school in 1979 and was one of the first schools of fine cooking in this country to offer all-day, year-round classes for people who are serious about cooking well. Courses range in length from one day to one week to six months and, for the most part, teach the principles and techniques for French cooking as applied to modern California cooking.

Tidewater Community College is a non-residential, two-year community college offering comprehensive programs designed to meet the educational and training needs of area citizens, business, and industry. TCC offers a two-year Associate Degree in Hospitality Management with a specialization in Culinary Arts and three Career Studies Certificates; Classical Cooking, Kitchen Management and Catering. Career Studies Certificates offer a non-degree option to students interested in the Culinary Arts.
