chicago(11-15-05) - Chef Todd Stein Named Executive Chef of mk

(Chicago, IL. November 6, 2005) It's official - Michael Kornick has passed the torch to mk veteran chef Todd Stein. In a show of respect and in his usual kingly fashion, Kornick has made a formal proclamation regarding this historic turn of events.

"It gives me great pleasure to announce the appointment of Executive Chef to my longtime collaborator and chef de cuisine, Todd Stein. As Todd oversees every aspect of mk's great kitchen day to day and with my utmost trust and confidence, this appointment is more than just a formality."

"Our Executive Chef's responsibilities include, in addition to menu development and kitchen operations, the complete oversight of financial responsibility, training and development of our staff, as well as mk ambassador to the public and the greater chef community at large."

Michael Kornick will continue to pursue new ventures for the company as well as overseeing mk and A Milano Italian Grill. Currently, Michael Kornick Consulting is opening seven venues in 2006 in partnership with the Nine Group including an additional Nine Steakhouse, the new Playboy Club Las Vegas and the upscale Italian restaurant, Nove.

Chef Todd Stein is a graduate of Kendall Culinary College and apprenticed under legendary chef Keith Korn at Chicago's Gordon restaurant. It was also during this time he got the chance to do a life changing stage with Le Bernardin's Eric Ripert. Stein opened mk, Spruce and Hudson Club in Chicago before moving to Cleveland to open three of its most successful restaurants: Vivo, Piccolo Mondo and San Souci as Executive Chef. Stein's contemporary American cuisine is marked by a rare mix of sophistication and approachability. Together with mk's great team of chefs, Stein is crafting his most ambitious cuisine to date.
