Sandy Block, Master of Wine
and VP of Beverage Operations at Legal Sea Foods in Boston
Sandy Block graduated from Vassar College
and was on his way to a PhD in History when the wine bug
bit. He worked as a sommelier and as a wine distribution
executive, eventually studying to become a Master of Wine;
one of only about 20 Americans to have earned the MW title.
In late 2004, he became the Vice President of Beverage Operations
at Legal Sea Foods, where he manages the 30-restaurant seafood
company's wine program. His office is situated within the
recently constructed Park Square location's state-of-the
art wine cellar, which holds more than 11,000 bottles of
wine. Since taking over the role, Block’s primary
focus has been to better integrate wine and food service
with the goal of enhancing diners’ overall experience
at Legal Sea Foods.
