2025 NEW YORK CITY RISING STARS AWARDS
New York City is in a league of its own. The level of execution and creativity continues to impress and inspire us year after year. But this time around, we were struck by a new generation hard at work and leading the charge in the city we call home. From young guns to eager entrepreneurs, the hospitality industry in New York is going through a transition. Sustainability, community, and well-being are top priorities as restaurants, bars, and bakeries infused with personality and identity open across the city. The post-pandemic era has finally faded away, and something new and exciting has emerged.
A small but mighty collection of independent restaurant groups are strategically using their platforms (and capital) to create neighborhood spots, showcase global cuisines, and promote new talent. Chefs are finding their niches and looking for ways to differentiate themselves while staying true to their style and sensibilities in a saturated market. Beverage professionals are also adapting to a changing environment. As non-alcoholic options take up more space on menus, we found bartenders and sommeliers simultaneously dealing with more curious and informed diners.
New York can be flashy. But even with food media becoming a dominant, almost ubiquitous force, many restaurant professionals are emphasizing balance and community. We were thrilled to see industry professionals pushing the envelope, supporting one another, and focusing on making their corners of the city better, in both big ways and small. The work of chefs, bartenders, bakers, sommeliers, and restaurateurs is as valuable and important as ever, and New York City is the place to prove that–together.
