USA FINALS APPLICATION
Calling all chefs and sommeliers–let’s see what you can do with Sherry! Put your skills to the test for a chance to compete in the Copa Jerez USA Finals in New York City on Monday, December 12. The winning duo will receive a trip to Jerez, Spain to represent the United States in the 2023 Copa Jerez International Finals.
HOW TO ENTER
Complete the application form below to submit a three-course menu (starter, main dish, and dessert). Your application must include full dish titles, the selected Sherry pairing for each course, as well as brief justifications for the Sherry pairings. All applications must be submitted by Friday, October 21.
RULES & GUIDELINES
Your team must consist of a chef and a sommelier from the same restaurant or catering firm which has at least one selection from the Sherry area on its wine list.
You can choose wines from any producers that are registered with the Consejo Regulador.
The menu may not include more than two wines from the same producer/winery.
The food & beverage cost of the full menu, including one glass of each selected wine, must not exceed $70 per person.
The winning team will have to prepare the same three-course meal in under three hours during the live Copa Jerez International Finals in Spain.
All applications received will be assessed based on the originality and creativity of the dish and the suitability and justification of the wine pairing.
WHAT IS COPA JEREZ?
Copa Jerez is an international pairing competition that aims to showcase the best harmonies between gastronomy and Sherry wines. Held every two years, a chef-sommelier team from Germany, Belgium, Denmark, Spain, the United States, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands compete for the international title in Jerez, Spain.
