Brother Luck

Four by Brother Luck | Colorado Springs, CO

October 2019

Born in San Francisco and raised in Phoenix, Brother Luck used cooking as a way to survive when his father passed away and his mother ended up in prison when he was just 16. As the sole provider for himself and his younger brother, he worked in professional kitchens for both income and meals. Putting his skill to use outside the line, he entered competitions to win scholarship money to fund his culinary education, and was named “Best Teen Chef” in 2001. In high school, he participated in the Careers through Culinary Arts Program (C-CAP) and went on to graduate from The Art Institute of Phoenix. Traveling to Japan, Luck worked in the kitchens of Takitei and Kinjhoro Ryokans in Kanazawa. Upon returning to the states, he worked in Chicago and Atlanta before settling in Colorado Springs.

He opened his first restaurant, Brother Luck Street Eats, with cuisine inspired by the street food he tasted around the world. In 2017, he opened Four by Brother Luck, a restaurant inspired by both the four corners area of the country where Utah, Colorado, Arizona, and New Mexico meet, and the four providers of ingredients: hunter, gatherer, fisherman, and farmer. Two years later, he opened Lucky Dumpling, an Asian-inspired dim sum house. Luck has made numerous appearances on shows such as Food Network’s “Chopped,” “Beat Bobby Flay,” and on Bravo’s “Top Chef” Seasons 15 and 16.
