When planning out a career, Saura Kline zeroed in on her love of two things: watching Food Network and eating her grandmother’s peach pie. So in 2009, she started to cook—she took baking classes in her hometown at Los Angeles Trade Technical College before finding a pastry position at Fig & Olive. Seeking a change of pace, Kline moved to Denver in 2011 and landed at the Kevin Taylor Restaurant Group. She was quickly promoted to executive pastry chef, developing the dessert program for New American Hickory & Ash and Kevin Taylor’s at the Opera House, as well as doing pastry catering for the Denver Performing Arts Complex and the Denver Art Museum.

After almost ten years with the Kevin Taylor Restaurant Group, Kline became executive pastry chef for the Halcyon in 2022. In addition to creating the playful dessert menu for the hotel’s American bistro, Local Jones, she bakes pastries as a daily amenity to guests. Kline has been a pastry blogger since 2017, and since 2019, has written and published four cookbooks: Easy As Pie, Pies That Inspire, The Small Batch Baking Cookbook, and The Essential Pie Cookbook.
