Whether they’re lifelong locals, long-term adopted New Orleanians, or recent transplants, it’s inevitable—people become addicted to the energy and vibrancy of the Crescent City. The 2022 class of New Orleans Rising Stars echoes this; one way or another, they all celebrate the history and diversity of the city’s storied food and beverage culture.
In such a challenging city, it’s the sense of togetherness that holds the industry together. Whether they’re hosting friends’ pop-ups, showcasing local artists’ work, or just visiting each others’ establishments, the New Orleans restaurant community goes to bat for one another. The fun, festive energy of the city is certainly a factor in what draws people in. But it’s that 13th oyster on the house or your best friend’s bar feeling more like your best friend's living room that keeps them in the city.
New Orleans has had a tough go the past few years, but New Orleanians are even tougher. They can weather whatever storm may come with the love and support of their community. And with the evolution of New Orleans cuisine and the city’s openness to the new and unknown, there is still a wealth of culinary potential. So here’s to you and your resiliency, New Orleans—a city where no matter what, everyone continues to march forward to the beat of their own drum.
