Lemon Pepper Wet

It ain’t just for wings! These Atlanta chefs (and bartenders) are putting their own spin on the Southern staple.

You can’t have Atlanta without lemon pepper wet wings. The dish—which consists of lemon pepper seasoned wings smothered in buffalo sauce, or whatever sauce the restaurant wants to pair them with—is near and dear to the hearts of Atlantans, and now, chefs and even bartenders are taking the flavor combo and running with it. From cocktails to pizzas, these industry professionals are experimenting with other formats to show guests a different side to the beloved Southern classic.

Lemon Pepper Wet Pizza, Chicken Wings, Mozzarella, Parmesan, Basil

According to Chef Matthew Foster of Phew's Pies, his lemon pepper wet pizza is the most Atlanta pizza you can think of. Foster creates a lemon pepper sauce for the base of his pizza, and tops it with a couple of crispy, tender flats.

Buffalo Cauliflower, Lemon Pepper, Herbed Ranch

Chef Tyler Edwards of Elsewhere Brewing takes a vegetarian approach to the lemon pepper wet wing, frying cauliflower and dousing it in buffalo sauce and lemon pepper seasoning before drizzling ranch on top.

Lemon Pepper Wet Fried Chicken Sandwich, Buffalo Sauce, Lemon Pepper, Super Ranch, B&B Pickles, Lettuce

At How Crispy Express, Chef Will Silbernagel translates the wings into one of his signature chicken sandwiches with ranch and pickles, zhuzhing up his homemade buffalo sauce with chipotle peppers and lemon juice for a smokier, brighter touch.

Lemon Pepper Wet:

Pisco, Gin, Herbal Liqueur, Celery-Lemon Cordial, Salt

At Lazy Betty, Bartender Conrad Helms refreshing drink recreates the lemon pepper seasoning by using a celery-lemon cordial to bring in the brightness, while Centum Herbis adds the herbaceousness.

Lemon Pepper Wet Pierogi

Chef Matt Reeves of Brave Wojtek brings Atlanta by way of Poland to the table with his lemon pepper wet pierogies, stuffed full of flavorful lemon pepper wet wings. Instead of the usual ranch on the side, Reeves serves a classic pierogi pairing instead: sour cream.
