Studio ATAO
What is Studio ATAO?
Studio ATAO is an award-winning, 501(c)3 nonprofit defining more equitable standards for the food, beverage, and hospitality industry through community-informed research, education, and programming.
What does Studio ATAO offer?
An educational platform: educational content and spaces that encourage individuals to become change agents in their communities.
A community think tank: co-creation of new FBH industry benchmarks and guidelines using the recommendations of those most impacted by industry challenges.
TOOLKITS
Provides tools for independent food, beverage, and hospitality business owners that are easily adaptable for multi-unit and chain businesses (includes the business impact and benefits of taking each action, a step-by-step guide to implementing each action step, metrics of success, and case studies and quotes from other business owners)
Examine the origins of the term, trace power imbalances, outline the harmful effects, analyze arguments defending cultural appropriation, offer examples of cultural appropriation, provide suggestions to address and combat cultural appropriation
Tokenism in Food & Beverage Media
Explains how people of color are used as 'tokens' in the media and their workplaces to give the appearance of diversity, equity, and inclusion. This toolkit exposes the false promises of tokenism and offers actionable solutions for organizations committed to disrupting tokenism and advancing real, sustained change.
COMMUNITY RESOURCES
A nationwide series of open-forum Town Halls to discuss necessary changes for the hospitality industry.
A free, private server that acts as a virtual community for connection with like-minded, social-justice-oriented peers in the food, beverage, and hospitality (FBH) industry to brainstorm ideas, discuss news, offer/receive advice, and find new opportunities.
