Stacy Shoemaker Rauen

Hospitality Design | New York

October 2019

Stacy Shoemaker Rauen graduated in 2001 from Northwestern University with a master’s degree in magazine journalism. She then returned home to her New Jersey to look for a job in New York City, but the post 9/11 job market was difficult to navigate and insecure. Shoemaker Rauen began temping in the journalism industry, first at Vogue and then at Traditional Home, working in the marketing department on their showhouse design tours. Hoping to shift to the editorial side, Shoemaker Rauen interviewed at a sister magazine to Hospitality Design. The role wasn’t a good fit, but human resources kept her resume on file. When an opportunity opened up in 2002, then Editor-in-Chief Michael Adams tapped Shoemaker Rauen for a position.

Since then, she has worked her way up to editor-in-chief of Hospitality Design Magazine, a role she assumed in 2014. In 2018, she was appointed vice president of the Hospitality Design group, which includes Hospitality Design Magazine, HD Expo, HD Summit, HD NextGen Forum, HD Awards, HD Platinum Circle Awards Gala, HD CitySCENE, HD SiteSeeing, and HD Elevate. Shoemaker Rauen is also the co-founder of Bump Water, a prenatal vitamin-infused water for moms and moms-to-be.
